Extraction Of Tooth

Oral Surgery

Oral surgery refers to a specialized field of dentistry that focuses on surgical procedures involving the teeth, gums, jaw, and surrounding structures of the mouth and face. Here are some common types of oral surgery procedures:

Tooth Extraction

Purpose : Extraction may be necessary if a tooth is severely decayed, damaged beyond repair, impacted (unable to erupt normally), or causing crowding issues.

Procedure : The dentist or oral surgeon numbs the area around the tooth, then loosens and removes the tooth using specialized instruments. In some cases, surgical extraction involving incisions and bone removal may be required for impacted teeth .

Wisdom Teeth Removal:

Purpose : Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, often require removal because they can become impacted, causing pain, infection, or dental crowding.

Procedure : Similar to tooth extraction, wisdom teeth removal involves numbing the area, extracting the teeth, and possibly making small incisions in the gum tissue to access impacted wisdom teeth.
